Operate equipment and perform tasks that support the various business needs in Nutrient manufacturing. This may vary and includes (but is not limited to) completing builds, weighing, adding, mixing, blending ingredients, completing analytical testing (with training), operating equipment such as pumps, mixers, agitators, shear mills, valves dryers, as well as cleaning and changeover tasks associated with production of products in a FDA regulated facility.



At this level, incumbents perform the full range of duties as assigned, under sometimes no supervision,, while exercising discretion and independent judgment within established guidelines.  This level operates with a high level of autonomy and is considered the subject matter expert for the jobs and tasks within the Manufacturing Department.   They are responsible for leading a small team of other associates and directing work for others within the department.


Essential function

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following. Incumbents at any level in the job series perform the same or similar tasks.

  • Following work instructions and blending procedures exactly in the production of nutrients.
  • Identifying and verifying materials and lot numbers and ingredients to be used in the production of finished goods.
  • Weighing of all materials needed, checking all materials and weights. 
  • Completing paperwork and following good manufacturing documentation practices.
  • Operation of blending and material handling equipment including, but not limited to: loading/unloading of mixers, blenders, tanks, connection, setup, and cleaning of tanks, pumps, agitators, dryers.
  • Operation of drying equipment as per established procedures.
  • Operation of a forklift (mount & dismount) & operation electric power jack.
  • Completion of basic quality tests, following established procedures.
  • Completion of cleaning tasks, including use of chemicals, hoses, foamers, etc.
  • Setup and testing of process piping, including installing gaskets, hoses, clamps.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, percentages).
  • Must be able to identify all material used (reading in English).
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. of raw material.
  • Must be able to push cones of raw materials over 330 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand long periods of time.
  • Consistently promotes and maintains a harmonious/productive team effort.
  • Contributes to the department team effort by helping the team achieve the results needed.
  • Reports to work on a daily basis to meet customer and production goals, as well as, comply with company attendance policy.
  • Requires medium to heavy work, including continuous physical exertion such as frequent bending, lifting or climbing up ladders and stairs.


Required qualifications

HS Diploma or equivalent

1 year of related work experience
