Purpose

The Maintenance Team is responsible for the reliability and maintenance of all manufacturing equipment and systems.  The Team collaborates with Engineering and Operations to ensure that the manufacturing operations run safely, producing quality vitamins efficiently in a 24 hour operation.

 

Essential Function and Responsibilities


  • Support Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) schedules and job plans and assist with production requests as needed.
  • Repairs and maintains production equipment (valve replacement, conveyor bearing and chain replacement, motor/gearbox replacement, lube routes, cam replacement, etc.)  in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operations manuals
  • Report all building safety and operational hazardous findings to the Maintenance Manager and generate follow-up work orders to the appropriate department for resolution.
  • Utilize CMMS to document equipment repairs.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Responsible for the daily/weekly/monthly and yearly plant equipment checks.
  • Support the development of Maintenance SOP’s.
  • Adhere to plant quality standards including cleaning and sanitation of Maintenance areas.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of the entire facility, including all types of building, production, and utility equipment in the plant, with limited supervision. 
  • Must also be able to determine and implement corrective actions for equipment failures independently.
  • Ensures the upkeep and maintenance of all areas of the facility, maintains the cleanliness and hygiene of the work areas.
  • Complies with the industry standards and safety regulations (LOTO, etc.).
  • Manages time effectively and meets all specified deadlines.
  • Assists in snow removal and potentially exposed to variable weather conditions.
  • Works overtime as required

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • HS Degree or equivalent experience in maintenance in a related field is preferred or equivalent maintenance experience or certifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to identify technical defects in mechanical and electrical equipment in the facility
  • Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines and coordinate work functions with fellow employees
  • Familiarity with automation and controls systems within a manufacturing environment, programming within PLCs (Allen Bradley) strongly desired
  • Skilled uses and maintenance of hand and power tools, machining, fabrication, and welding preferred
  • Strong math/analytical/problem solving skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals and P&ID’s
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers at all levels
  • Must be able to understand and follow standard operating procedures and demonstrate the ability to work from verbal and written instructions
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., crouch, stoop, bend, kneel, climb up ladders and stairs and perform work over head
  • Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work constructively in a team environment
  • Experience with computer skills (Office, Excel, Word Outlook) and CMMS or ERP systems
